Top 5 graduates to look out for in the PwC network

PwC’s Academy sought to ease the burden of recruiting top class talent through its Young Employable Scholar (YES) Programme (launched June 2016). The first batch of YES students submitted their final projects in November 2018 and are ready to be a PwC Professional. Here are the five graduates that you need to watch out for at PwC Dubai!

Malvika Guntur | PwC Core Assurance

Apart from being part of the intense but rewarding YES programme, Malvika displayed her literary skills by leading the internal Academy newsletter initiative. The newsletter focuses on student life within the Academy and Malvika, as the Social Media Committee Leader, ensured relevant content and circulation. She is a public speaking enthusiast and has her own initiative called ‘Rekindle’ to encourage other youth to overcome the fear of public speaking. She performed associate-level tasks during her internship as part of the YES programme and proved her technical capabilities to her team. Malvika will be receiving an offer to work with the PwC Financial Services team by March 2019.

Maryam Asad | PwC Risk Assurance

Maryam received an internship extension within the YES programme schedule because of her stellar work in Risk Assurance. Maryam received a PwC graduate offer with the Risk Assurance team in September 2018. The potential she showed as an intern really played its part in convincing her current team that they simply had to keep her, which shows how much of an asset Maryam was and can be to a team.

Adarsh Kumar | PwC Risk Assurance

Adarsh used his time on the YES programme internship to make a solid impression on his employers and colleagues. Through the tremendous potential that he showed, the Risk Assurance team further extended his internship before offering him a full-time graduate position in September 2018. Adarsh is poised to complete his ACCA qualification by March 2019. Adarsh took the initiative to build relationships with his team at PwC by actively participating in the firm’s football initiatives both as an intern and as an employee.

Barkha Bhatia | PwC Core Assurance

After interning with the Core Assurance team as part of the YES programme, Barkha has joined PwC in a full-time role as a Finance Associate in November 2018. While pursuing the YES programme, she ensured that her involvement with the Academy extended beyond just academics. Barkha was the Social Events Committee Leader at PwC’s Academy and flourished in a role that required key leadership skills to succeed. Barkha also performed the student treasurer role at the Academy and was responsible for preparing, implementing and reviewing the council budgets.

Virangna Pal | PwC Core Assurance

Coming from an engineering background, Virangna took a career-shifting decision to pursue the YES programme. Initially brought in for an internship with PwC’s MERC Finance team, Virangna was one of the first in the network to be at the forefront of the changes happening within PwC Middle East’s systems due to the implementation of VAT in the UAE. Her precision with numbers and willingness to learn, during her internship, led her to receiving a full-time graduate offer within a year of being on the YES Programme.

Each individual showed tremendous professionalism during their time as students and as interns, and that is what the YES Programme seeks to accomplish. By creating a strong curriculum with opportunities for technical and leadership skill development, the programme wants to create and produce the leaders of tomorrow.
