As part of its skills development and career development initiative in the Kingdom, PwC Saudi Arabia offered a four-week certificate course to its new graduate Saudi staff.

The Accounting Skills Certificate (ASC) has been developed by PwC’s Academy, the educational business of PwC in the Middle East, in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). A total of 34 graduates attended the course in Riyadh, Jeddah and Alkhobar.

The certificate course is designed specifically for the region and covers the foundation knowledge and skills of accounting and finance. It allows participants to develop and practice core accounting techniques and equips participants with the skills required to work effectively within the accounting function of an organization in any industry.

Omar Al-Sagga, PwC partner, deputy country leader in Saudi Arabia, said: “The ICAEW ASC program is an internationally recognized qualification, which will give Saudi nationals the best foundation to their careers. Given its availability in English and Arabic, it reinforces our vision of supporting sustainable growth of talent in the Kingdom. This program further underscores PwC’s investment and commitment to Saudi Vision 2030.”

While the certificate course is principally aimed at graduates looking to pursue a career in finance and accounting, it is stated to be beneficial for finance professionals without appropriate qualifications, as well as for companies looking to upgrade their finance team and enhance their training and skill sets.
